Frequently asked questions

How does refining profit work in Albion Online?

You buy raw resources (and the lower-tier refined material for tiers 3+), refine them into the next material, and sell. Profit is the refined sell price minus the cost of raw + lower-tier inputs, adjusted for the resource return rate and station fee, after tax.

What return rate does refining give?

With the +40% city bonus the base return is about 36.7%, rising to roughly 53.9% with Focus. A higher return rate means more of your inputs come back, so refining in the matching bonus city is almost always worth it.

Where should I refine each resource?

Metal bars in Thetford, planks in Fort Sterling, cloth in Lymhurst, leather in Martlock and stone blocks in Bridgewatch each get the local +40% refining bonus. The table ranks live opportunities with the best refine city already chosen.

Should I sell to buy orders or place sell orders?

Placing a sell order usually nets more but takes time and risks being undercut; selling instantly into a buy order is faster but lower. The full calculator lets you toggle between the two and set your own tax and Focus.
